about the watercolor
Russell Bloodworth painted his first view of
the University of Virginia Lawn and Rotunda in 1967. A limited edition, it
sold out within three years.
The artist graduated from Virginia's School of
Architecture in 1968, and was asked to recreate his original as part of a
fund raising effort for the Alumni Association in 1997. Great effort was poured
into the second watercolor, which helped raise over $12,000 for the
University. An edition
of 1,000, this rare view is slated to be a real collector's item, as was
the 1967 edition. The print is nearly identical to the original
watercolor, both in color and size, and was printed on heavy authentic
watercolor grade paper to match the original under the direct supervision
of the artist. This
limited and first edition of Russell Bloodworth's view of Thomas
Jefferson's Rotunda and Lawn is available for a price of $90, including
shipping by UPS. The original watercolor has been faithfully reproduced
full size on extremely heavy watercolor paper stock. The image measures
12" x 28" exclusive of a 3.5" white border on all sides with the words
"The Lawn" directly below the image. |
